Use of CLT (cross-laminated timber)

This facility is the first airport terminal in Japan to use CLT, large-sized panels made of wood stacked and glued so that the directions of the boards are perpendicular to each other, as the structural material for the roof.1 The amount of CLT used per building is the highest in Japan (according to CLT Association research as of October 2, 2017). For the use of CLT, we utilize the Forestry Agency's Forestry and Forestry Regeneration Basic Subsidy System, and use local materials specified by Okinawa Prefecture (such as prefectural or Kyushu materials distributed within Okinawa Prefecture). We aim to contribute to the regeneration of forests and forestry.
In addition, in 201911, the Central Council for the Promotion of Wood Utilization (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Chairman: Kazuo Suzuki) hosted an event called ``2019 Excellent Facility Contest for Wood Utilization''. Received the chairman's award.

Efforts toward "Net Zero Energy Building (ZEB)"

The plan is to reduce primary energy consumption by 68% compared to buildings based on national standards, and the building falls under the ZEB Ready rank in the "ZEB Roadmap" of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy. It has received the highest rank certification under the Energy Saving Performance Indication System. This initiative is the first in the country for an airport terminal, and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's ZEB demonstration project system is utilized to realize ZEB.
